Our optometrists are licensed by the College of Optometrists of Ontario to prevent, diagnose, treat, and manage almost any ocular affliction you may be experiencing.

ARE YOU DUE FOR AN EYE EXAM?

The Canadian Association of Optometrists guidelines recommend that adults under the age of 65 have their eyes examined at least once every 2 years. However, most optometrists agree that annual exams are preferable.

Annual exams allow your optometrist to track small changes in your eye health and vision and keep an eye out for trouble. A comprehensive eye exam is a valuable tool for detecting vision problems and eye disease and can be used to diagnose serious conditions before you begin to exhibit symptoms.

Your annual eye exam can protect your eyes from diseases and other vision-threatening conditions you might not even know you have.

WHAT TO EXPECT DURING YOUR EXAM

Don’t worry; this isn’t an exam you have to study for. The only thing you have to do is bring yourself and any questions you may have!

During your exam, the friendly team at the Richmond Hill Optometry Clinic will:

  • Ensure your medical history is up to date
  • Identify any potential stressors, such as prolonged digital device use
  • Measure your visual acuity, both near and far, and assess how well your eyes work together as a team
  • Conduct a neurological assessment by evaluating your pupils’ responsiveness and the quality of your peripheral vision
  • Test for glaucoma and other serious eye diseases

Finally, at the end of the exam, your optometrist will provide you with your results alongside any recommendations or prescriptions they might have for treatment or preventive care.
