WHAT IS VISION THERAPY?
Vision therapy is a program designed to help correct vision problems and improve your visual skills. The overall goal of vision therapy is to assess and address problems you might be experiencing with your eyes that can’t be solved with non-surgical treatments such as eyeglasses or contacts.
Vision therapy is an excellent technique designed to help you get the most out of your vision.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Vision therapy can include a multitude of different techniques designed to improve your vision. Vision therapy uses different optometrist-led exercises to help correct vision problems, such as:
- Amblyopia, also known as “lazy eye”
- Strabismus, also known as “cross-eyes”. Vision therapy has been shown to help with an intermittent form of this condition called convergence insufficiency, which is the inability to keep the eyes aligned when performing close up tasks such as reading but are aligned when looking at more distant objects
- Other eye movement disorders
- Focusing disorders
VISION THERAPY FOR CHILDREN
The very first step before pursuing vision therapy for your child is to request a comprehensive eye exam. An eye exam will determine the issues your child might be facing, such as myopia (nearsightedness), hyperopia (farsightedness), astigmatism or other vision or eye health issues.
If your child checks out with strong visual acuity, but a visual problem may still exist, then you may want to consider a vision therapy program for your child. Speak to your optometrist about what vision therapy might be able to do for your child.
OUR VISION THERAPY PROGRAMS
Many children have to deal with vision problems that affect their performance at school. While some may be caused by the quality of their vision, others may be caused by visual inefficiencies.
Learning-related vision therapy is a program designed to address learning problems caused by these inefficiencies with tools and exercises tailored specifically for your child and their needs.
Concussions and other traumatic brain injuries can lead to a range of visual problems, but we can develop a vision therapy program to help manage these issues and provide you with vision you can depend on.
Are you looking to up your game? Sports vision enhancement can help train various visual functions to ensure you are always performing your best, no matter what game you play.
Amblyopia and strabismus are common issues many of our patients face. With the help of a tailored vision therapy program, we can help align your eyes and provide you with the vision you deserve.
