How to Prepare for Your Eye Exam at Richmond Hill Optometric Clinic

At The Richmond Hill Optometric Clinic, we want your visit to be as smooth and efficient as possible. To help you prepare for your upcoming eye exam, here are some guidelines that may help you.

1. Bring the Following Items:

  • Your Current Eyewear: Glasses, sunglasses, or contact lenses (including your contact lens case and solution).
  • Previous Prescription: If available, please bring your most recent prescription.
  • Insurance Details: If you have vision insurance, bring your card or provide the necessary information.
  • List of Medications: Include any eye drops or supplements you are currently using.

2. Contact Lens Wearers:

  • If you wear contact lenses, please wear them to your appointment and bring a pair of glasses to switch into if needed. Avoid wearing your lenses for 24 hours before the appointment if you are experiencing discomfort.

3. Be Ready to Discuss:

  • Your Eye Health History: Any vision changes, discomfort, or symptoms you've been experiencing.
  • Family History: Any history of eye conditions like glaucoma, cataracts, or macular degeneration.
  • Lifestyle Needs: Let us know about your daily activities, such as screen time, driving, or outdoor work, to tailor our recommendations.

4. Dilated Eye Exam (if applicable):

  • During your visit, we may dilate your pupils for a thorough evaluation of your eye health. This can temporarily blur your vision and increase light sensitivity. Bring sunglasses and consider arranging for someone to drive you home if needed.

5. Plan Your Time:

  • The appointment may take 30–60 minutes, depending on the tests required. Please arrive 5–10 minutes early to complete any necessary paperwork.

We look forward to seeing you at Richmond Hill Optometric Clinic. If you have any questions or need to reschedule, feel free to contact us at 905-883-1010 or email us.

Thank you for choosing us for your eye care needs!
